The footsteps stopped outside the cave, and the boy held his breath. He could hear heavy breathing, and then the sound of footsteps moving away. He let out a sigh of relief and allowed himself to relax. He had managed to escape for now, but he knew he couldn't stay in the cave forever.

He darted out of the cave and sprinted towards the nearest town, hoping to find help. The sun was beginning to dip below the horizon, casting long shadows across the landscape. The boy pushed himself to run faster, ignoring the burning in his legs and the tightness in his chest.

Finally, he reached the outskirts of the town and stumbled into the first house he came across. The occupants were surprised to see a young boy in such a state, but they quickly helped him and offered him a warm meal and a place to rest. The boy felt a wave of gratitude wash over him as he realized he was finally safe and out of harm's way.
